Denim & Diamonds: An introduction

If you've followed by blog at all, you know that I am an avid Nano'er. I've participated in every Nanowrimo since 2004, when I wrote Denim & Diamonds. As part of "winning," Lulu (a print-on-demand publisher) printed my book and I've made it available so that family, friends, and anyone interested in NaNoWriMo can read it. I thought I'd share the intro with you here, to give you an idea of why I decided to share my story:

Introduction
Some of you may be familiar with National
Novel Writing Month. It is the brainchild of Chris
Baty, and takes place during November of each
year. I was introduced to NaNoWriMo during 2003,
and participated for the first time in ’04. The goal of
NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words in one
month. It starts at 12:01 a.m. on November 1, and
ends at midnight on November 30. If you take the
challenge and participate in forums, you may well
find yourself hooked up with a local group,
attending Write-Ins and, best of all, that TGIO
(Thank God It’s Over!) party at the beginning of
December!
The comment that I get from many people is
“Really, you wrote a novel in a month?” and the
next words, unspoken, are clear in their faces, “But
it must be crap, huh?” That’s the reason this book is
being published – I wrote Denim & Diamonds
during NaNoWriMo 2004. I have used spell check,
and I did edit it for mistakes, though I tried to
remain true to the story that was written during that
challenge – to hopefully inspire others to participate
in future NaNoWriMo challenges. If you have ever
said, “Someday, I will write a novel” – read this
book and take it as a challenge. If I did it, you can
do it!

Will you take the challenge with me this year?
