Spring Has Sprung!
Wow. Hard to believe it is April. I spent yesterday outside with my husband and daughter, picking up the stuff that somehow accumulates over the winter, mowing the yard, weedeating, planting flowers. We also brought home a dresser and vanity that a relative was going to throw out, and spent a little time cleaning those old items up. I hope to salvage them, revamp them, refinish them - something. This morning, my arms and shoulders and back ached from all the physical exertion, but it felt good to get out and use my muscles for a change. So much of what I do is at a desk - my work, my writing, my scrapbooking. In many ways, I love this time of year - the warmth of the sun, the smell of freshly cut grass, the birds chirping. But in some ways, I don't like it - mainly, all the chores that go along with owning a home that cannot be put off. I know my writing and my scrapbooking will take a back seat for the next few months simply because there are not enough hours in the weekend to get everything done.
With that in mind, I am going to make myself a couple of promises:
1) I will continue to write every day.
2) I will bring my laptop to the living room in the evenings to maximize my editting time without ignoring my family completely.
3) I will get up earlier on Saturday or Sunday to allow myself some quiet time to scrapbook or write.
4) I will attend a writer's conference to help me stay motivated.
Take a moment to evaluate the change of seasons and how it affects you. Then, make yourself a promise or two - and keep them.
